Detailed Description

A narrow section of a quartz vein hosts a group of brilliant highly-lustrous hematite crystals. The crystals are in the style of hematite roses, viewed edge-on. Excellent condition – some incomplete crystals around the periphery where it was removed from the surrounding rock. Minor reddish quartz microcrystals in association, adding colour. Attractive piece.

About these Hematites

These fine hematite specimens were excavated from a deposit in the hills extremely close to the town of Saint-Marie-aux-Mines.
