Detailed Description

Bundled groups of hematite crystals (edge-on iron roses) are accompanied by crystalline quartz, an aesthetic combination. The hematite crystals are sharp with good lustre. In excellent condition. The contrast on this specimen is quite striking, and not common for the locality. These are beautiful hematite crystals.

About These Hematites

These fine hematite specimens were excavated from a deposit in the hills extremely close to the town of Sainte-Marie-aux-Mines. The deposit was worked in the 1970s and 1980s, and these specimens date back to those workings.
