Description

Detailed Description

This is a super plate of hematite crystals, with colourless quartz crystals at the top of the piece and a dusting of pink microcrystals of quartz in a few spots. The hematites are edge-on iron-roses – they are sharp and highly lustrous. In excellent condition, no damage, a few incomplete crystals around the periphery where this was attached o surrounding rock. This is a great specimen.

About These Hematites

These fine hematite specimens were excavated from a deposit in the hills extremely close to the town of Sainte-Marie-aux-Mines. The deposit was worked in the 1970s and 1980s, and these specimens date back to those workings.
