Hematite

Specimen # 100614
Mineral: Hematite From South Africa
Location: N'Chwaning II Mine, Kalahari Manganese Fields, Northern Cape Province, South Africa
Size: 4.8 x 4.0 x 2.0 cm

Description

This is a cluster of sharp, well-developed, silvery hematite crystals with complex morphology.

In excellent condition – one nick at an edge to one of the smaller crystals, and two surface chips on faces, you need to look to see them, not remotely distracting. This piece is almost a floater – can’t know if the contact at the bottom was an attachment to anything larger – it is crystallized completely all around.

An aesthetic arrangement of beautiful hematite crystals, this is a great specimen!
