Kyanite

Specimen # 201012
Mineral: Kyanite
Location: Barra do Salinas, Coronel Murta, Minas Gerais, Brazil
Size: 7.0 x 6.3 x 1.4 cm

Description

A great arrangement of beautiful blue kyanite crystals with minor quartz. Kyanite is a rock-forming mineral, which is found enclosed in one or more other minerals. Kyanite very rarely has perfect terminations and the kyanite crystals comprising this specimen have typical rugged ends, not clean terminations – and last photo show them from the backside. The largest crystal is a particularly wonderful blue with transparent sections. A super kyanite from the collection of John S. White, where it was on display in the case in his study/library.
