Microcline, var. Amazonite, Smoky Quartz

Specimen # 101953
Mineral: Microcline, var. Amazonite, Smoky Quartz
Location: Microcline, var. Amazonite, Smoky Quartz, Smoky Hawk Claim, Crystal Peak Area, Teller Co., Colorado, USA
Size: 5.5 x 4.8 x 3.2 cm

Description

This is a beautiful parallel-growth crystal of classic bluish-green amazonite, with the white “stripe” on certain prism faces. The amazonite crystal is located where the termination of the main smoky quartz would be – they grew together and the smoky quartz ends by growing straight into the amazonite. There is a smaller smoky quartz termination as well. The amazonite is sharp and the colour is excellent. In excellent condition, there is an imperfection in the termination, hard to spot and not distracting.

A very fine, colourful specimen of amazonite.
