Prehnite

Specimen # 200074
Mineral: Prehnite
Location: Merelani Hills, Lelatima Mountains, Manyara, Tanzania
Size: 5.0 x 4.0 x 2.0 cm

Description

An wonderful specimen of blue prehnite, this like a rosette comprised of crystals all-around (including the backside). These Tanzanian blue prehnite specimens are unique – and this arrangement of crystals is really nice. The crystals are sharp with many lustrous faces, and the colour is very good for the find. In excellent condition, a couple of incomplete areas at the periphery not seen from the front as displayed. From the John S. White collection, a beauty!

The hue of this specimen changes dramatically under different light sources. Under halogen it is a cold, light blue (as in the fourth photo), and under LED and daylight, it has more depth of colour and more warmth.
