Prehnite, Epidote

Specimen # 100538
Mineral: Prehnite, Epidote
Location: Prehnite, Epidote, Arrondissement Diako, Cercle de Bafoulabe, Kayes Region, Mali
Size: 8.3 x 6.0 x 3.7 cm

Description

A large number of prehnite balls and aggregates are perched on top of and nestled in among clustered epidote crystals.  This is one of the few specimens I have seen from here where the prehnite is crystallized in the “knight’s helmet” shape of classic curved aggregates (like the French ones from La Combe de la Selle), in addition to the balls of radiating crystals. Only one other specimen in this lot shows this habit. No damage except to epidotes at two places on the periphery,  around the side towards the back and otherwise underneath, as I would display the piece (it can be displayed so that no damage is visible). Super specimen, great aesthetics with the radiating epidote crystals and excellent quality prehnites!
