Pyrite

Specimen # 101932
Mineral: Pyrite
Location: Pyrite, Huanzala Mine, Huallanca District, Dos de Mayo Province, Huanuco Dept., Peru
Size: 6.1 x 3.8 x 2.5 cm

Description

This is an exquisite pyrite specimen. The group of sharp, mirror-bright, complex pyrite crystals is accompanied by dolomite, giving great contrast. There is a calcite crystal on the dolomite as well. Peruvian pyrite specimens are almost inevitably damaged, but this one is in spectacular condition. Searching the main crystals with magnification I can find a single tiny chip on all the crystals across the top, and a couple of tiny ones at the bottom – this piece is in amazing shape. A beautiful pyrite specimen – these crystals are brilliant.
