Pyrite

Specimen # 100744
Mineral: Pyrite
Location: Mundo Nuevo Mine, Huamachuco, Sanchez Carrion Province, La Libertad Dept., Peru
Size: 6.7 x 5.9 x 3.2 cm

Description

A really different specimen for Mundo Nuevo, this is a cluster of sharp, lustrous pyrite crystals. These pyrites have a striking, colourful iridescence that makes the piece! In excellent condition – no damage. The pyrite crystals are incomplete around the back, but they are recrystallized, indicating that this group separated from the surrounding host rock sometime late during the mineralization event. The pyrite crystals are rather attractively grouped in a sculptural arrangement, which stands perfectly for display. Looks great in the cabinet!
