Pyromorphite

Specimen # 100800
Mineral: Pyromorphite
Location: Daoping Mine, Gongcheng Co., Guangxi Zhuang A.R., China
Size: 6.2 x 3.5 x 2.3 cm

Description

From a very small recent pocket at the Daoping Mine, this beautiful pyromorphite specimen features sharp, lustrous, elongated crystals, grouped together on a plate with minor matrix. What is particularly neat about this one is that the crystals are not terminated with a pinacoid or hoppered appearance, as is usual for the locality, instead they have well-defined pyramidal terminations. The colour of the crystals ranges from yellow-green to lime green, and they are translucent (some are very translucent). In excellent condition, a couple of missing crystals and a couple of small incomplete crystals, not distracting. This is a sweet Chinese pyromorphite.
