Quartz

Specimen # 100049
Mineral: Quartz
Location: Cara Suja Mine, Fazenda Turmalina, Sao Geraldo do Baixio, Doce Valley, Minas Gerais, Brazil
Size: 8.3 x 2.9 x 4.5 cm

Description

Brilliant, water clear doubly-terminated quartz crystal with a smaller secondary crystal. The termination on main crystal is beautiful. Although this specimen may appear entirely colourless, to my eye it has the faintest of smoky tints. Looking through the front of the larger crystal at the backside intersection of the two crystals, there is a beautiful internal rainbow play of colour. This specimen stands perfectly as photographed. The sharpness, lustre and clarity of this one really make it glow under the lights in the display case.
