Quartz (after coral)

Specimen # 201018
Mineral: Quartz (after coral)
Location: Withlacoochee River, Florida, USA
Size: 8.0 x 7.5 x 2.2 cm

Description

The box-like chambers of this specimen are quartz, var. chalcedony, replacing coral. The front of this specimen is a cut and polished surface. Each of the chambers has a final growth of sparkling quartz microcrystals lining them, except for the one on the right. These sparkling crystals – and the contrast with the chamber that doesn’t have them- make the piece. A classy specimen from the John White quartz collection.
