Quartz (Faden)

Specimen # 201075
Mineral: Quartz (Faden)
Location: Zhob District, Balochistan, Pakistan
Size: 9.2 x 5.6 x 1.6 cm

Description

This is a superb faden quartz, with beautiful form, in an arc of well-defined, doubly-terminated crystals. It’s hard to imagine a more aesthetic faden quartz!

From the John S. White collection, it was sold to him with an incorrect locality – based on what we know, we strongly believe it is from the Zhob District in Balochistan, Pakistan (which is a prolific producer of faden quartz). As you can see from the photos, in excellent condition, a couple of tiny chips. The bottom (which had been attached to the rock and was therefore incomplete) has been ground to that it mounts perfectly for display. This is a gorgeous piece!
