Location: Lechang Mine, Lechang Co., Shaoguan, Guangdong, China
Size: 9.3 x 8.4 x 7.0 cm

Description

A one-of-a-kind piece from the John S. White quartz collection and figured in Rivista Mineralogica Italiana (2007, 31:1, p. 35). A thin, continuous blanket of sparkling druzy quartz artistically draped over several of the quartz crystals, all standing up over a base of bladed hematite crystals. The hematite crystals are lightly dusted with tiny sparkling quartz crystals, almost giving the effect of a light and discontinuous winter frost. The larger quartz crystals have some internal brown colour and the ones low on the piece are colourless and water-clear. This piece is in excellent condition – there are spots where there were quartz crystals but they are so professionally prepped and not noticed. This is a killer – a beautiful, sculptural specimen!
