Quartz, var. Amethyst

Specimen # 100005
Mineral: Quartz, Var. Amethyst
Location: Piedra Parada, Mun de Tatatila, Veracruz, Mexico
Size: 6.4 x 5.7 x 3.6 cm

Description

Wonderful off-matrix cluster of pale amethyst crystals, with the central crystal nicely offset by the smaller ones.   The main crystal (5.3 x 2.1 x 1.9 cm) is pristine and a good size for a transparent amethyst from this locality.  The smaller crystals have a couple of extremely tiny nicks (under 1mm – you have to look for them).  The true internal beauty in this piece is apparent when you carefully examine the large central crystal – it has excellent phantoms through multiple very finely articulated zones.  Super piece.
