Quartz, var. Amethyst

Specimen # 100006
Mineral: Quartz, Var. Amethyst
Location: Piedra Parada, Mun de Tatatila, Veracruz, Mexico
Size: 6.6 x 6.4 x 3.5 cm

Description

Cluster of amethyst crystals ranging to the most delicate pale lilac. The most prominent feature is the largest crystal (4.0 x 1.2 x 1.1 cm) with its pair of termination points, and internal wispiness that catches the light nicely. This crystal is in perfect condition, and very mildly sceptered. The smaller crystal radiating out from the right of its base is beautifully coloured.  The smaller crystals on this specimen are bright and glassy, and mostly water-clear.  The underside of the matrix has been ground a bit so that the piece stands perfectly. Excellent!
