Quartz, var. Rose Quartz

Specimen # 100058
Mineral: Quartz, var. Rose Quartz
Location: Pitorra Mine, Galileia, Minas Gerais, Brazil
Size: 5.5 x 4.4. x 2.0 cm

Description

Sculptural group of lustrous glassy rose quartz crystals. The quality of the rose quartz crystals is outstanding – most are transparent and the specimen is completely free of damage. However, it’s the crystal arrangement that makes this piece special. In particular, the group at the top of the piece and the one on the left hand side are both comprised of many small rose quartz crystals stacked together in the form of hexagonal outlines. Both of these hexagonal-outline arrangements are built up around the edges and hollow in the centres.  Hard to see in the first photograph, so the second photo is of the top rose quartz group, looking almost down from above, and showing this hexagonal outline.

This is a beautiful rose quartz specimen with real character.
