Specimen # 200732
Mineral: Rhodonite
Location: San Martin Mine, Chirucu, Huallanca, Bolognesi Province, Ancash Dept., Peru

Description

This is a section of a rhodonite vein, with a bed of rhodonite crystals in a shallow recess from the Chirucu Mine (the locality is no longer producing and not expected to produce again). The lustrous, bladed rhodonite crystals are a very fine medium-pink colour, with sharp terminations and striated prism faces. In very good condition in the middle of the vug, surrounded by some incomplete crystals. A pretty rhodonite!
