Rutile

Specimen # 102619
Mineral: Rutile
Location: Champion Mine, White Mountains, Mono Co., California, USA
Size: 4.0 x 3.1 x 1.9 cm

Description

From a great American locality for rutile, this is a truly beautiful crystal in pyrophyllite. The rutile is sharp, lustrous and pristine. It looks black – with bright light and close inspection, one then sees the internal red highlights in a couple of places.  An excellent rutile and super contrast with the matrix – a very classy piece.
