This is a unique crystal. The key feature is an amazing bright prism face with curvature and complexity, topped by a sharp termination. This prism face is the narrow face I’d display forward, as in the first photo. It is highly lustrous. The broader prism faces are deeply striated with good lustre. And the back is is irregular, having experienced some shatter event in the late crystal development stage and recrystallized on surface. The crystal is a pale lilac at the base and colourless at the tip.

Great sharpness and lustre on this one – really a neat piece.

About these Spodumene Crystals

These spodumene crystals are from a 2017 pocket that produced colour-zoned (lilac/pink – pale green – colourless) crystals, along with some specimens that were purely lilac/pink and some that had no such hues at all. Although spodumene crystals are often etched or poorly defined, this pocket included sharp well-formed crystals and relatively low incidence of etching/dissolution features.
