Stilbite, Epidote

Specimen # 100498
Mineral: Stilbite, Epidote
Location: Stilbite, Epidote, Diamonkara, Bendougou, Kayes Region, Mali
Size: 5.7 x 4.4 x 3.4 cm

Description

Super-aesthetic specimen with the main stilbite group (3.9 cm across) perched at the top of epidote crystals on matrix and centred on one epidote crystal. The stilbite has great colour and lustre, and is a little different, in that it is a thick radial fan (not a full ball) and so you can see the sides of the stilbite crystals radiating out from the central epidote. The stilbite is in excellent condition – lustrous, with nice yellow crystals – a couple of tiny rubs, but inconsequential. The stilbite at the bottom right of the piece is an internal”cutaway” section of a radiating group (it is not complete) and termination of the epidote angled to the right is damaged on the side which faces out to the right and downward (this epidote is not the focal point of the piece). Stands for display as photographed. A unique specimen with the stilbite radiating our from the central epidote crystal – so cool.
