Specimen # 100014
Mineral: Wulfenite and Mimetite
Location: Ojuela Mine, Mapimí, Durango, Mexico
Size: 7.6 x 5.8 x 3.4 cm

Description

This small cabinet-sized specimen hosts a bed of greyish green mimetite and a sizeable very elongated spiky wulfenite. The largest crystal pair is 2.4 cm long – the long crystal is about 2.0 cm and there is a second slender crystal rising up off of it at the one end to extend this focal area of interest.  Nice lustre on the crystals, and these are such a cool crystal morphology for wulfenite (it is uncommon to find this morphology in this kind of size, beyond this locality). The smaller crystal near the top of the piece has a nicked tip and there are missing/broken crystals lower down on the piece, but to me the area of interest is what matters on this specimen
