About These Xenotime-(Y) Crystals

These crystals are superb for this species. They are a good size and, for xenotime-(Y) crystals of this size, they have excellent sharpness.

This locality – Novo Horizonte – produces the beautiful, world-famous, golden rutile specimens, often with lustrous black hematite crystals. The deposit is also known for its exceptional rutilated quartz specimens. However, in addition to these more common minerals, Novo Horizonte has produced some of the finest xenotime-(Y) crystals ever found anywhere. Xenotime-(Y) crystals of this size have not been produced consistently from the locality. There have been a couple of finds of this magnitude – this 2015 find was the first such find in many years.

Xenotime-(Y) crystals of good size from Novo Horizonte always have a little edge wear or chipping. The ones in this lot were selected for their relative high quality.
