Zircon

Specimen # 101996
Mineral: Zircon
Location: Zircon, Astor Valley, Gilgit-Baltistan, Pakistan
Size: 2.8 x 2.7 x 2.3 cm

Description

A beautiful, lustrous, deep red 0.7 cm zircon crystal is perched at the top of this specimen and accompanied by two smaller crystals. The crystals are in excellent condition. The main crystal is incomplete at the back, and one can see minerals intergrown there, but depending on the display angle chosen, this is either completely out of view or minimally in view. The zircon fluoresces yellow under short-wave ultraviolet light, as shown in the fourth photograph. Great red crystal and nice situation on the matirx.
