Almandine Garnet

Specimen # 200540
Mineral: Almandine Garnet
Location: Granatenkogel, Gaisberg Tal, Obergurgl, Sölden, Imst District, Tyrol, Austria
Size: 5.8 x 5.3 x 4.0 cm

Description

An Austrian classic from the Pete Richards collection, this piece features a 5.1 cm almandine crystal, along with a smaller crystal and an incomplete one. These almandine crystals have good sharpness and definition. Unlike many of these now seen offered for sale, the crystals are completely natural, nothing has been polished. In excellent condition, the one incomplete crystal and some contacting at upper left rear edge and on the back. A great garnet!
