Specimen # 200402
Mineral: Awaruite
Location: Josephine Creek, Josephine Co., Oregon, USA
Size: 5.8 x 4.2 x 1.6 cm

This is a nugget of the rare mineral, awaruite. Awaruite is essentially native nickel, rich in iron. This is an impressive awaruite, as it’s very large for the species! There is minor serpentine attached to the awaruite. From the Pete Richards collection, he acquired it on January 16, 1998. A remarkable rare specimen.
