Barite

Specimen # 200534
Mineral: Barite
Location: Linwood Mine, Buffalo, Scott Co., Iowa, USA
Size: 5.3 x 4.8 x 3.7 cm

Description

A gorgeous cluster of barite crystals from the Linwood Mine. These are “chisel-tip” habit, rather than the typical blocky habit we normally see from Linwood. The barite seems to have a glistening partial coating of tiny calcite crystals. In excellent condition, no damage. From the Pete Richards collection, an aesthetically-balanced, sparkling barite group.
