Mineral: Barite
Location: Linwood Mine, Buffalo, Iowa, USA
Size: 7.3 x 3.3 x 2.4 cm

Description

A beautiful smoky barite crystal from the Linwood Mine. This crystal has glassy, lustrous faces – it is sharp and blocky. The light plays nicely in the crystal. Just under the surface of the rear faces (as displayed), there is a thin clay inclusion, and the lower front of the crystal was interrupted by limestone as is typical from Linwood. In excellent condition, a couple of small chips, but as you can see in the photographs, the edges are very clean. This is an impressive barite, particularly for this price.
