Pyrite, Calcite

Specimen # 102823
Mineral: Pyrite, Calcite
Location: Santa Eulalia Mining District, Chihuahua, Mexico
Size: 10.6 x 7.2 x 4.2 cm

Description

A gorgeous cabinet specimen combining rich golden-iridescent pyrite crystals with sparkling flower-like clusters of calcite, originally from the collection of Peter Bancroft. Minor sphalerite in association. It’s hard to capture the colourful patina and the crisp visual look of the pyrite crystals in the photos – they are more accurate than the video clip, but still the colour is a bit overpowered by the lustre. In excellent condition, a small incomplete area at the bottom (as I’d display it.) From the Tracy Kimmel collection, she acquired it from Arkenstone. Labels are included with the specimen (unfortunately Tracy had no personal labels, but others are included). A beautiful combination piece!
