Description

Detailed Description

Intense green, lustrous dioptase crystals on contrasting matrix from the type locality for the species. This piece hosts an amazing 2.0 x 1.1 cm dioptase crystal, a great size for any dioptase locality and huge for Altyn-Tyube. This is an older specimen, acquired by Steve through his family in Hungary after the USSR was dissolved. In excellent condition, a tiny chip at the back tip of the large crystal and minor contacting on the right edge where the dioptase crystals were  attached. This is a superb dioptase – it jumps out of the display case from across the room.
