Description

Detailed Description

From the classic locality known from the 1850s for brilliant black tourmaline, Steve personally collected this dravite specimen. The piece features a 3.1 cm dravite crystal on phlogopite crystals. The tourmaline from this locality is highly lustrous and this specimen is no exception. It is a sharp crystal with minor surface texture and it is in excellent condition, with a couple of small chips low on the crystal. The small associated dravites are incomplete. This specimen looks great with the isolated  main crystal at the top of the matrix, and the way it stands perfectly for display (as photographed), with a phlogopite at the base.
