Elbaite Tourmaline

Specimen # 200492
Mineral: Elbaite Tourmaline
Location: Little Three Mine, Ramona, San Diego Co., California, USA
Size: 2.7 x 0.8 x 0.7 cm

Description

A superb doubly-terminated gem tourmaline crystal from the Little Three Mine. It is sharp and transparent, with colour zoning, a little light pink at either end. The pyramidal termination faces are particularly lustrous – they are glassy! (I note that the pink zone at the flat pinacoid termination end is incredibly thin visually and is showing up more in the photos because of the angle – it’s barely visible if simply held up in the light.) In excellent condition, no damage. This crystal is a killer!
