Elbaite Tourmaline

Specimen # 200499
Mineral: Elbaite Tourmaline
Location: Paprok, Kamdesh District, Nuristan Province, Afghanistan
Size: 3.3 x 0.5 x 0.4 cm

Description

A gorgeous, transparent gem tourmaline from Paprok. This crystal is sharp and glassy, with lustrous faces and a great termination (two orders of pyramidal faces). The colour is zoned from green to almost colourless, the faintest tone of pink. It is water-clear, so the light background is perhaps the photo that best represents the appearance of the crystal’s colour. In excellent condition, no damage. A stunner from the Pete Richards collection.
