Elbaite Tourmaline

Specimen # 200512
Mineral: Elbaite Tourmaline
Location: Sapo Mine, Conselheiro Pena, Minas Gerais, Brazil
Size: 1.5 x 0.6 x 0.6 cm

Description

A wonderful colour-zoned, blue-cap tourmaline from the famous find at the Sapo Mine. This crystal is sharp and lustrous, in excellent condition (a couple of tiny chips if you search with magnification). In cross-section, it has “watermelon tourmaline” colour zoning, although is a blue outer edge rather than green. This little elbaite from the Pete Richards collection is spectacular.
