Description

Detailed Description

This crystal plate hosts very sharp hematite crystal clusters. These edge-on “iron rose” hematites have nice lustre. They are very slightly mounded in the middle of the piece, so it has a nice form to the overall look (it doesn’t look purely flat when it’s standing. In excellent condition – no damage (just some incomplete crystals at the outer peripheries where this was attached to surrounding rock. These are beautiful, well-defined crystals of hematite.

From the Tracy Kimmel collection, she had acquired it from me years ago (I purchased it in France from the French collector who had collected it). A beauty!

About These Hematites

These fine hematite specimens were excavated from a deposit in the hills extremely close to the town of Sainte-Marie-aux-Mines. The deposit was worked in the 1970s and 1980s, and these specimens date back to those workings.
