Description

Detailed Description

For howlite, this is a large crystal cluster. The cluster is quite flat in aspect and crystallized all around. The howlite crystals around the periphery are sharp and quite lustrous, while many crystals in the centre of the piece show frosting from interaction with seawater. In good condition – excellent around the periphery, and missing crystals. A nice, distinctive howlite specimen.

About These Howlites

The howlite crystals from Bras D’Or Lake, Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia are the best known – to date, this is the world’s only locality to produce howlite crystals, other than a California locality with microscopic ones.

This place can be a little rough… which is a very good thing in some ways, and less so in others!
