Description

Detailed Description

This piece features a 1.8 cm cluster of sharp, lustrous howlite crystals on pale grey anhydrite. Many of the howlite crystals are remarkably gemmy for the species, and some have a nice smoky colour, providing great contrast with the anhydrite. In excellent condition – only a couple of missing tips on close inpsection. This is a fantastic display-quality specimen of crystallized howlite.

About These Howlites

The howlite crystals from Bras D’Or Lake, Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia are the best known – to date, this is the world’s only locality to produce howlite crystals, other than a California locality with microscopic ones.

This place can be a little rough… which is a very good thing in some ways, and less so in others!
