Malachite, Chrysocolla

Specimen # 200225
Mineral: Malachite, Chrysocolla
Location: Mashamba West Mine, Kolwezi Mining District, Lualaba, Democratic Republic of the Congo
Size: 5.2 x 5.0 x 4.4 cm

Detailed Description

A cluster of sharp primary malachite crystals nestled into a perfect spot on light greenish blue chrysocolla. Primary malachite crystals, i.e. prismatic crystals that formed initially as malachite and are not psuedomorphs after azurite, are quite uncommon. These are well-defined, dark green crystals. In excellent condition, a couple minor chips not obvious but visible if you look for them. A great aesthetic primary malachite!
