Pyrite

Specimen # 200537
Mineral: Pyrite
Location: Quiruvilca Mine, Santiago de Chuco Province, La Libertad Department, Peru
Size: 5.3 x 4.0 x 3.0 cm

Description

A group of mirror-bright, sharp pyrite crystals from one of the world’s classic localities for great pyrite, the famous Quiruvilca Mine. These crystals combine pyritohedron, octahedron and cube faces. From the Pete Richards collection, he acquired it in the early 1980s when Quiruvilca was producing more pyrite than in more recent times. In excellent condition, minor chips. A nice Quiruvilca pyrite!
