Specimen # 200431
Mineral: Quartz, Actinolite inclusions
Location: Mallnitz, Spittal an der Drau District, Carinthia, Austria
Size: 9.0 x 1.5 x 1.4 cm

Description

An Alpine quartz crystal from the Pete Richards collection, with inclusions of green actinolite crystals throughout the lower 3/4 of the crystal. The actinolite crystals are green needles that sparkle under the light and are clearly visible to the eye – beautiful to look at with a loupe. There are also small dark green clinochlore crystals on this piece, both on the surface and as inclusions. The quartz crystal itself is terminated at the top, with a feathery group of tiny parallel crystal terminations. In excellent condition, there is an incomplete fragment of an associated quartz crystal attached to the main one. A nice Austrian quartz-actinolite specimen!
