Stibnite

Specimen # 102734
Mineral: Stibnite
Location: Baia Sprie, Maramureș, Romania
Size: 9.5 x 6.1 x 4.4 cm

Description

A cluster of fantastic stibnite crystals from Baia Sprie. These classic older stibnite crystals are very uncommon for Baia Sprie – they are broad, with steep spear-point terminations. This is textbook form for the best of the older material from Baia Sprie. The crystals are sharp, with lustrous prism faces, and the piece is in excellent condition. There are small gemmy baryte crystals perched on the stibnites. This specimen is from the Tracy Kimmel collection. It was formerly in the collection of Peter Bancroft (Cat No. 274), and Tracy acquired it from The Arkenstone (Cat No. PB-5) – it is photographed on mindat with the MinID X7K XKA. A superb European classic, with great provenance!
