Mineral: Uvite Tourmaline
Location: Mogok Township, Pyin-Oo-Lwin District, Mandalay Region, Myanmar
Size: 1.2 x 1.1 x 1.1 cm

Description

This is an absolutely gorgeous tourmaline crystal. It is an intense green, and the chromophore (the element causing the colour) is vanadium, not chromium. The crystal is sharp, lustrous and equant, doubly-terminated. In excellent condition, no damage except a chipped termination on the underside. From the Pete Richards collection, acquired in 1993. A superb uvite!
