Nova Scotia Thomsonite – February 2021
Posted by: Raymond McDougall on 02.17.2021 | Filed under: Latest, Recent Mineral Updates

I’ve posted great specimens in the new Nova Scotia Thomsonite update (click here). These are from the small 2020 thomsonite find at Cap D’Or  – they are very fine Nova Scotia thomsonites.

Thomsonite is one of the less common zeolite minerals and over the years, specimens of the more common zeolite species have been falsely sold (whether accidentally or otherwise) as “thomsonite”. This has particularly been the case with specimens from India (I purchased an Indian “thomsonite” not long ago; it was later determined it was mesolite with no sign of thomsonite). The specimens from Cap D’Or have been confirmed by analysis – they are thomsonite-Ca.
