Description

Detailed Description

This is a great ilvaite – it is a parallel-growth crystal with many faces from all angles and the classic overall crystal cross-section. It is sharp with good lustre. It is singly-terminated, with a myriad of tiny quartz crystals on one side of the termination. In excellent condition, a couple minor chips – can be displayed from any angle. Stands perfectly for display as photographed – very nice!

About These Ilvaites

Although the finds at Huanggang have clearly produced ilvaite specimens of a calibre and in numbers previously unknown for the mineral, many Huanggang ilvaites are quite chipped or more severely damaged – these are excellent. Over the course of the ilvaite finds, some characteristics of the crystals have varied quite substantially. In particular, some are much sharper than others, and some are much brighter than others.
