Description

From one of the world’s classic localities for top proustite, this is a beautiful red proustite crystal group. The crystals are truly red (no backlighting required to see the red colour), and they are magnificently so when backlit, showing why proustite is known as “ruby silver”. Even though this is an old piece, it has obviously been looked after by prior collectors (kept in the dark), retaining its colour. The crystals are sharp and brilliantly lustrous. The larger vertical crystal is about 1 cm and the crystal across the top is about 0.9 cm. An excellent, quality specimen, some incomplete areas. From the Tracy Kimmel collection, with  some additional provenance – ex. The Arkenstone, ex. Martin Lewadny collection, ex. Georg Gebhard collection (photographed on mindat, Min ID NWR-32G). This is a super German proustite.
