Description
This is a shallow bowl of smithsonite crystals with a coating of willemite crystals fully covering one side of the bowl. It’s hard to say for sure, as there are minor peripheral areas where small crystals are incomplete, but this seems to have formed as a floater. The smithsonites are in excellent condition, and many of the willemites are too, although on the willemite-side there are areas of incomplete/missing crystals. It can be displayed in different ways, depending on what you’d prefer to highlight about it. The first photo shows the willemite side, with the “bowl” facing down, while the second photo shows the smithsonite side (with some willemite visible). From the Tracy Kimmel collection, ex. David K. Joyce (with his label). A great Tsumeb combination specimen!
I’m including two videos with different highlights – first willemite, then smithsonite (with willemite visible as well.
Please Note: the colour representation in the still photographs has been carefully calibrated and adjusted to show an accurate rendition of this specimen in daylight (shade). The colours in the videos are not similarly adjusted.
