I’ve added great new specimens to the website in this Mexico Update. The update includes several mineral species for which Mexico is famous, including adamite, austinite, wulfenite, danburite and datolite.
I’ve posted an update with some superb new pyrite iron-cross twins from Colombia. These are some of the finest specimens from the 2022 production at the Gachalá workings. The iron-cross twins from 2022 are among the finest quality to date. In this size range, the quality is fantastic and they are like crystal models. The specimens in this update were selected out of stacks of flats, and are top pieces from the locality’s 2022 production.
I have posted great new specimens from the John S. White Collection – Virginia & Maryland suite. These include superb apophyllites from the famous finds at the Fairfax Quarry, and also many more interesting pieces: apophyllite, prehnite and datolite from the Virginia trap rock quarries; and more unusual finds such as Virginia pyromorphite and Maryland gold.
You’re invited to the Rochester Mineralogical Symposium 2023 – entirely online and coming soon! We have a great lineup this year and I hope you’ll join us. The RMS is meant for you!
I’ve added new specimens in this new Worldwide Update, including specimens from the Pete Richards collection and the Steve Szilard collection. I hope you enjoy them!
I’ve just posted exceptional new specimens from the Chibuku Mine, Chiredzi District, Masvingo, Zimbabwe.
I’ve posted excellent specimens from the John S. White Pennsylvania collection. These include some of the best Smoky Mountain smoky quartz specimens known, along with great specimens of classic Pennsylvania minerals and rarities – pyromorphite, celestine, andradite, magnetite, rutile, calcite, stellerite, ruizite, and more.
I’ve posted a new update featuring the first of many specimens to come, from the collection of my friend Tracy A. Kimmel. Tracy built an excellent, substantial collection of fine minerals, and I acquired it this year. I have also written a post about Tracy (see Profiles and Tributes), and I really hope you’ll enjoy reading about her – she was a remarkable person.
Tracy A. Kimmel (1963-2021) was a Canadian mineral collector who built an excellent worldwide collection, with particularly strong sub-collections of arsenic minerals and quartz. She was of course so much more – and, together with her mineral collection, that’s what I’d like to share with you. I first “met” Tracy online, long before we […]
I’ve posted new worldwide mineral specimens from the Gerald Panneton collection. This update features spectacular pieces, some of which are right up with the best I’ve offered on the website.
I have added excellent new specimens in this Brazil Update, including brazilianite, fluorapatite, elbaite, aquamarine, hematite, rutile, spessartine and beautiful fuchsite crystals, along with quartz and calcite.
Another Rochester Mineralogical Symposium has come and gone – and it was a great event! Most of the program is available to watch on the RMS YouTube channel – the link is here.
